Viking Motel

We stayed at the Viking for one night in January. We wanted to be reasonably close to PDX airport for a morning flight the next day. The location was perfect for that. Head north on Interstate to Columbia (less than a mile), take a right and drive east about five miles, take a left onto 82nd Ave and follow it to airport. The room at the Viking was reasonably priced, clean, the bed comfortable, the shower old fashioned but nostalgic. Attentive and friendly staff. Very close to two large grocery stores and gasoline stations. Had hoped the classic Viking Motel neon sign would be lit up, but no.

Pound for a pound this is the best deal in North Portland. The staff are extremely accommodating, the location is fantastic. Right on the Rosa Parks station of the Max. You can get literally anywhere from here. And you can get here from the airport without a cab or a van or a ride. Take the red line to the yellow line. If you're coming to visit Portland come to a place that is situated in a fantastic neighborhood, with great public transportation and restaurants, grocery store, cafés within three minutes walking distance.

We experienced easy check-in, clean room complete with mini fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee pot, great AC, cable, WiFi & bathtub including shower. We were especially grateful around 8:30 pm receiving a call from owner/manager that our car truck was open. It’s a new car to us & my spouse had pulled out his keys to get ready for bed & accidentally hit the trunk open button. We were SO grateful, Mr Patel & we will return.

The gentleman at the front desk was very polite and helpful when we couldn't figure out the new AC unit. The rooms are otherwise a bit dated, but clean and comfortable. The beds are the perfect height so you don't feel like you're sitting on the ground. We had a microwave and a mini fridge w/freezer. The freezer needed to be defrosted so wasn't usable during our stay. The parking lot is kinda small and is best laid out for small to mid sized vehicles. Would recommend and we will be returning if we are staying over in Portland.

Fine for what it is; a reasonably priced basic Motel. The location wasn’t terrible but not the best, however we had no issue during our stay. We chose this for close proximity to Polaris Hall and good price. Rooms were decent and they were clean.

Friendly service, clean rooms, quiet, comfortable beds, nice shower. Located close to public transportation, groceries, and the interstate. We enjoyed our stay.

Very clean comfortable room for the price. Everything worked well and we were very satisfied.

Probably one of the best places to stay if the main goal of your trip is going to the Portland International Raceway. I stayed here during the formula E race weekend and it was really quick and easy to go between here and the racetrack throughout the day. It is only about <15min each way on transit or 45min walking. There are a number of cool spots to eat within a 30min walk and even more choices if you use the LRT. Be warned however during the early parts of the day on weekend the LRT only runs every 30mins. The motel itself is clean enough for the price but with friendly staff. The air-conditioning was a nice bonus as well.

Charming motel. Super comfortable beds, clean and spotless room and bathroom. And the price can't be be beat for expensive Portland. Staff is warm, helpful and accommodating. We felt very safe staying here and leaving our car all day while taking TriMet which is conveniently 1 block away. Microwave, small fridge and coffee pot stocked with coffee, sugar, etc. Several delicious restaurants close by. Comfortable, safe and convenient location are the reasons we'll be staying here when we return to Portland. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Bathroom fan was really loud and the heat didn't work very well. Owners are very friendly and the location right on the MAX line is super convenient. Nearby restaurants, coffee shop, grocery store and Fred's all within walking distance.
